Well everyone, it is once again time to return to fixing one of television's most embarrassingly bad shows: Fear the Walking Dead. So let's get straight into it!

Title: Fear the Walking Dead – Season 5 Rewrite

What is it? A rewrite of the fifth season of Fear the Walking Dead

Inspiration:

Just like the previous rewrite my inspiration for this pitch is a youtuber named Uniquenameosaurus, in which he reworks the whole Star Wars sequel trilogy to make it flow better and give us something really entertaining. He set himself a few rules though to challenge himself and make it so that he’s keeping some ideas and plot points from the official movies in his rewrite. That challenge excited me so much that I realized I could do something similar with another property that greatly disappointed me to the point that the stress physically hurt me.

What’s the Point?

I want to continue the work I started with my season four rewrite. Since releasing that rewrite fully to the public, the official Fear the Walking Dead show has only continued to degrade in quality. Season 6 ended with the launch of several nuclear missiles, one of which hits Texas and turns a majority of the state into a nuclear wasteland. That is the location of season 7A, and yet most of the characters don’t think, “This place is dangerous, we should leave.” No, instead they all just live in this incredibly toxic environment and not leave for other states that were no hit by nukes. But then, in season 7B, the nuclear problem is all gone. Same state, but apparently just a couple of months is all that’s needed for all that radiation to disappear.

This writing is atrocious. Like a elementary school student writing a story with red crayon, Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss have no idea how to write a proper story. Yes, Madison does return, but that’s only because fans were so adamant that she was alive after her inexcusably bad “death” that they reversed their confirmation that Madison is dead. I love Madison Clark, she’s a great character, and I love Kim Dickens in her performance of Madison. But this was a terrible decision because it has been over three seasons since she “died”. Just let Alicia lead. Oh wait, we can’t because she lost a fight against a single walker and got bit. Yet she’s surviving her infection after chopping off her arm for weeks! And she’s left the show, so Madison never got to see her daughter, which is what everyone still watching Fear wanted!

Okay, enough ranting. The point is that the show is still bad and I’m writing my new canon for it!

The full idea:

Let’s start off with a recap of MY season 4: After being separated from the dam, we have three groups of individuals: First is Madison, second is Nick and Daniel, and third is Alicia and Strand. Madison lives in the city Yuma in a hotel community, helping to keep it together by finding supplies and protecting it from infected. Nick and Daniel, after surviving the dam, are on their own in the wilderness until they meet a wanderer named John Dorie, who is on the search for a woman named Laura. Lastly, Alicia and Strand are surviving in Tijuana when a chance to find real supplies is interrupted by Alicia and Strand’s separation. All these groups slowly begin to get closer to one another until Madison and Strand lead a raid on El Bazar to finally have enough supplies to live. While that happens Nick, Daniel, and John Dorie are continually attacked by Proctors, ending with Nick dying just as he meets up with Alicia, Strand, Madison, and a newcomer named Brian (who might have the key to arm themselves).

In the second half of the season these characters prepare for the real battle with the Proctors. Madison, Alicia, John Dorie, Naomi/ Laura/ June, and Farah, an engineer who looks up to Madison, stay at Yuma to defend it and keep the peace between all the people at the hotel. Strand, Daniel, and Brian, a crazed, yet friendly conspiracy theorist, lead a small team to a nearby army base, where they discover the remnants of the US military in hiding. Through Strand’s wits and Daniel’s military experience they convince the soldiers to join them in the fight for Yuma. Eventually all of them reunite for a final battle with Proctor John. Yuma wins with severe losses and the Proctors are broken, with Proctor John slain through Brian’s self-sacrifice. These losses though cause the leaders of the Yuma community to banish Madison and her friends from the community. With nowhere to go, Madison and Alicia, followed by Strand, Daniel, John Dorie, June (after finally dropping all her fake names), and Farah leave Yuma in search of a new home.

Now, on their own, they all begin to form bonds with one another in their search for a new haven to live at. But the road is long and the dangers they’ll be facing will be beyond what any of them could imagine.

So here are the rules I’ve set myself for my rewrite of season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead:

1) There must be a group of children

2) The CRM must be introduced (to Fear)

3) There must be an oil rig/ field

4) June and John Dorie must have a wedding and have a priest/ religious figure present

All names, locations, and events can be subject to change.

So, let’s begin:

Episode 1 - Flagstaff

Plot: Weeks after leaving Yuma, the group must make a stop to collect important supplies in order to head further north.

Synopsis:

Our first episode of this season five begins soon after the end of season four. Compared to the main show in The Walking Dead universe, we’re between where season three ends and season four starts in the main show. That’s kind of insane and really threw a wrench into some of my ideas at first, but the first three seasons of Fear take place in just over two months, which is insane! Still, timelines make this very difficult because I don’t want to rush some story elements I have planned for later in the season, but I also don’t want to drag things on for too long or rely on time skips too much.

So onto the actual episode. Our group of survivors are heading north (at last), with an easterly angle to it. We’ll see them take a few stops as they travel, scavenging for goods, moving cars and obstacles, killing infected, and hiding from the occasional horde that is passing through. This’ll be done in a series of montage to show a passage of time, so it’ll be a longer start to an episode than usual. They’ll be leaving the harsh heat of the far south and making it into slightly more greener pastures, reaching cities like Prescott until they reach Flagstaff. As they drive past the sign that shows “Welcome to Flagstaff” we’ll cut to intro title, which might be in the style of the official show for seasons four and five. This is a new era of (my) Fear, so I think this might be what the show will need.

Our group of protagonists (Madison Clark, Alicia Clark, Victor Strand, Daniel Salazar, John Dorie, June, and Farah) are on their own as a group, similar to how the group in the main show were the first half of season five up until reaching Alexandria. The intro montage will show that they’re all growing more experienced since the last season and most are true survivors with their own skills. The reason for this montage is that I had some trouble deciding where to throw a timeskip in for this season because I knew there had to be one at a certain point and I having so much trouble to decide when it will be. I also didn’t want the idea of a timeskip every season to become a norm for my story, so I had to figure out a clever(?) way to make a timeskip without actually doing it.

Back to the story, it is now around two to fourth months (need feedback on this) since the end of season four and they’ve arrived at the city of Flagstaff, Arizona. As they’re driving down the road to pass by it though one of their cars starts to make funny squealing noises. Madison, who is driving said car, quietly says “SHIT!,” and signals the other vehicle that they have to pull over. They all move to the right side of the road and move carefully through a bunch of vehicles on the off ramp to a small convenience store/ gas station. After stopping all of them get out of their vehicles (Madison, Alicia, Farah, and Strand in one and Daniel, John Dorie, and June in the other). All of them look worn from their travels, each with (mostly) different clothes that have received some wear and tear. Also, they all look physically worn down by their time getting out of the south, showing that they’re having a hard time on their own. Approaching the damaged car Farah opens the hood looks at the engine, discovering that the accessory belt for the engine is damaged. Madison will ask Farah what this means and after some thinking Farah will explain this might be just mean a lack of air conditioning, but most likely the whole engine is compromised because of this.

With the knowledge that at least half of them are stranded, June asks Farah if she can fix the problem. Immediately the Arabic woman will reply she can, but she’ll need a new belt for the engine. Strand will come in and say that there are cars all over, so that might be easy. Farah though explains that they’ll need the right size belt, so they’ll have to find another car similar to the one this one or else it won’t fit and could cause more damage. She then adds that she’ll need some tools in order to change the damaged belt. Alicia comes in here and points out a superstore not far away, around half a mile away. Then Daniel will add that it might also be good place to find some supplies since they’re running out. Now that they have a plan, they divide into groups: John Dorie, June, Daniel, and Alicia will leave for superstore while Madison, Strand, and Farah will stay by the other vehicles and scavenge around the small store. Before the team of four leaves, Madison has a talk with Alicia, giving her the usual “Take care of yourself” lines we’d expect, though also acknowledging that her daughter can take care of herself. Alicia at first wants to just tell her mom she’ll be alright, but has a small pause before telling Madison, “I’ll be careful, mom.” I feel in this moment that Alicia is trying to consider her mom’s feelings since after losing Nick she and her mom are the only members of the Clark family left.

As John, June, Daniel, and Alicia drive off to the store, Madison paces in the sun for a short moment, watching the four head out to the store. Strand then comes in and tells Madison they should look about, to which she follows him into the store as Farah looks over the crippled car some more. It’s mostly been emptied out, but there are a couple things about that they pick up. While picking up some of these, Strand comments how Madison still has really grown since he first met her. When they first met she wouldn’t have let any of her kids out of her sight and now she’s letting Alicia go wherever she wants. Madison with reply that Alicia isn’t a little girl anymore, she’s capable of doing things on her own. Chuckling, Strand will reminisce about how his mom just left him and his dad when he was little, so he never got to really experience what Madison has been doing with Alicia. Looking up from a piece of canned food she found, Madison asks Strand if he ever wanted kids. Surprised by her question, Strand denies it with a laugh, saying he wouldn’t be a good parent. “You’ll never know until it happens,” Madison will reply as they keep scavenging.

When they’re done they head outside and go to Farah to ask if she found anything new on the vehicle. No success though, so Strand and Madison try and look around the neighborhood and near the gas station to try and cycle some gas out of the vehicles about. We’ll then cut to Farah outside, looking over the vehicle more. Small side note, I think I have an actor to portray this character: Naomi Scott, who has played Arabic characters in other media, including the live-action remake of Aladdin. Either her or Mandeep Dhillon from CSI: Vegas. Back to the story, they don’t go too far, as they’re in unfamiliar territory right now, and Strand has his rifle out just in case. But while these three are close to one another the camera lingers on an abandoned apartment. As the camera tilts slowly upwards it rests on a higher floor and small glint of light. Somebody is watching them. We cut to black as we (the audience) find this out.

When we return from the break we cut to our other team as they enter the parking lot of the superstore. There are a number of cars about, as well as a few infected shambling about the lot. As they stop the car Daniel tells them to stay while he inspects the area ahead of them. As his eyes explore, he’ll tell them softly that it’s best to be sure there is nobody watching them. Alicia will chime in, saying that they could have been shot while driving up. Nodding, Daniel will affirm that, but mentions that it wouldn’t be much help much since they’re still plenty far away and if they shot as they were entering there would be plenty of time to flee. But now they’re closer they could be shot while getting out of the car and left in the sun to dry. Here John will comment that Daniel really does have military training to him, to which Daniel will respond that it never fully disappears.

Enough spying from Daniel confirms to the four that it’s safe to get out. As they exit the vehicle, they begin to look over some of the abandoned cars in the lot. They are careful while doing this, checking each vehicle for an active alarm before trying to unlock their hoods. When they find a car that’s safe to break open, the four find that their tools aren’t able to pop the hood. All are frustrated, but June tells them they could find something in the store to help them. As they walk towards the store they kill a few infected that get close to them. June uses a machete, Alicia her butterfly knife, John with a hatchet, and Daniel with a knife. Once they reach the doors they look inside and don’t barely see any infected about, telling them that the store isn’t occupied by anybody alive.

Making their way in, all four look around to see the place in disarray. As they look about they notice most of the place is ransacked, but there is still plenty about that can be looked at. The four, after looking about, split into two groups: Alicia and Daniel in one, and June and John in the other. Both head their ways and we stick with Alicia and Daniel as they head right. We’ll see, as both parties explore, that the place was attempted to be organized into a home for survivors, but got overrun. There will be signs of gates, stashes of supplies gone missing, etc. As Alicia and Daniel reach an aisle, they find an infected trapped under a fallen display, helplessly trying to grab for them. As Alicia leans down to kill it another infected from a close aisle tries to get up behind her and Daniel kicks the dead in the knee, sending it falling face first into the ground. Alicia turns just as she hears the dead man cut off by Daniel’s kick and sees Daniel stomp on the monster’s head, finishing it off. Alicia, shocked by the near miss, thanks Daniel, who brushes off the compliment. Standing up, Alicia asks Daniel how he did that, how he knocked that infected down. He’ll explain to her that anybody, alive or dead, can be knocked down with a kick to the leg if their balance isn’t strong. Before Alicia can ask, Daniel says he’ll teach her. In fact, he should teach them all, it’ll probably save their lives at least once. Hey, Clementine can’t be the only person to know this move.

Meanwhile, John and June are looking about and find the medical section. Mostly ransacked, there are some usable materials still about like bandages that they pack away. As they look about more though June finds some a box of candy and shows John, telling him it’s “his favorite.” He smiles and takes it, thanking June for the gift. She smiles back and then notices an infected walking up to her, which she kills with her machete. After she kills it, John will look about and remark how he hasn’t been in one of these stores in a long time. All he had was that small corner store and himself to keep supplies, so it’s so weird seeing all these “doo-dads” and “things” all about him. June will let him walk up to her and she’ll tell him to think about this superstore as just a bigger corner store. “Some things you need, some you don’t. Like those movies we watched together.” John will smile more at this and tell her he misses watching those and hopes, maybe one day, he can go back for them. I’ll have them have more conversations in the mall so both can be shown interacting more.

We’ll have a moment of silence between them until June asks John if he was alright on the road after she left. This’ll cause John to go silent and tell her that he felt hurt seeing her go. Even though he saw that she wanted to leave and wanted her to be happy even if it meant she left, there was a part of him that wish she stayed. With a look of deep shame on her face, June will apologize for leaving him, saying that she should have trusted her heart instead of her brain when they were together. John, though hurt by what she did, puts on a caring expression and reassures June that he understands her. They were still new to each other, she hadn’t told him her real name, and it felt awkward being around her sometimes with how long he was on his own. He’ll try to reassure her that they can hopefully get over it and maybe make a life together. As she said, maybe they can go back for those movies someday together.

Looking over feedback on June, I found that many people didn’t like her. It makes sense, she kept lying to everyone, didn’t do much, and did some backstabbing, even to her person she loved. I want to show that these two, after finally getting some time together with little conflict, are opening up to one another and learning about each other. Almost everyone loves John Dorie in the official show, but it’s the opposite with June. I’m going to give her more personality and development so she is likable and understandable as a character. I already started that last season by changing her backstory to have her and her daughter victims of rape early in the apocalypse (which explains why she’s so distrustful of others), but now I want to give her a little “sunshine” and purpose.

As the couple look about for more supplies they find an infected (that they kill) with a few things on them that might be useful. One of them is a walkie talkie. Don’t worry, they won’t travel across the country like in the official show. As June gets up from taking the items off the dead, John Dorie notices something on one of the infected: A ring. This causes him to pause as he looks at it. Then, seeing June with her back to him, he takes the ring off the dead and pockets it. Walking about more, they spot Alicia and Daniel making their way up to the second floor. That’ll allow us to switch them as they look about for the tools needed for the car. As they find a store that has the tools they need they pass by a window with an infected with football helmet and some makeshift armor from sport supplies notices them. As the two pass, it begins to smack against the glass window of the sports store it’s in. As it begins to crack, we cut to a break.

After this break we return to Farah, Madison, and Strand. The latter two are looking over vehicles while also keeping an eye on Farah. Strand calls out that he got a vehicle with some gas in it and Madison joins him in getting the gas out. They’ll get some gas out of the car, but partway through we see an object fly over their heads to land on the roof of the gas station. Suddenly a loud beeping noise is heard and all three are on alert. Strand will out loud say that he thought the gas station had no alarms to it. Madison then points out that the alarm is coming from the roof. All three run into the store and start searching for the door to the roof. Strand finds it and starts to pick the lock. Unfortunately, the dead being attracted by the noise and we see some approaching the store. Knowing that somebody has set some sort of trap, Madison and Farah begin to push shelves at the doors to make a barrier. Once that’s done Madison pulls out her hammer and Farah grabs an item (will go into a local gas station to see what’s on hand) to stab the dead.

As the dead get to the windows, both women start killing them and managing multiple areas of the store. In the back of the Strand curses at the lock as he tries to break it open. Suddenly there is some knocking on the back door and looking to his right he sees the dead are there as well, trying to break in. Calling out to Madison, he fumbles with his tools and drops them, quickly picking them up and once more trying to unlock the door to the roof. There is an audible cracking as the back door starts to break down, but Strand finally hits the lock right and the door opens. All three rush to it and head up the ladder, but Madison, the last to follow, is grabbed by a foot by an infected. Farah, hearing her cry of anguish, hits the grasping dead with her tool. The tool drops from her hands, but it does free Madison from the infected. All three are on the roof and they see the source of the noise: A frisbee with a smoke alarm attached to it. Furious, throws the disc off the roof towards the apartments close by. But his throw isn’t as good as whoever sent the homemade noise maker at them and the alarm breaks as it crashes to Earth. In the end the noise has attracted a lot of attention and dead, so now all three are trapped on the roof. Knowing they need help, Madison pulls out her walkie talkie and calls in to the others.

We switch back to Alicia and Daniel now as they peruse through the shelves. Just as Alicia finds what they need she hears her mom and answers her own communicator. Learning of the situation she informs Daniel and both begin leave for the exit. Reaching the edge of the floor they’re on they wave at John and June, telling them that the others are in trouble. But just after they call out, we see the football infected from before break the glass of the sports store and bunch of sports equipment falls out. Metal bats, baseballs, and all sorts of sports gears comes tumbling out, making a lot of noise, and alerting the infected inside the superstore. It’s time to go!

Alicia yells this and all four rush to the exit. John Dorie and June have the least amount of trouble getting to the exit, so they move from the entrance to intercept Daniel and Alicia. Those two are having a harder time as they notice a small group in infected coming out of a side store at the bottom of the stairs. They fight them off as they walk up, but in armored infected is following up with a small group. Unable to properly manage stairs downwards, it falls and flops about. Unfortunately, just as they reach the bottom the stairs, this infected crashes into the both of them and falls on top of Daniel. The football helmet it is wearing is still on, inhibiting, but not fully preventing it, from biting Daniel. But unless he gets attacker off quick the infected that are getting closer to him will have no trouble making a meal of the former mercenary. Alicia is occupied getting off and fighting multiple infected on her own with her butterfly knife, leaving Daniel on his own. He struggles as best as he can, the tension in this moment rising fast, until he grabs his knife and stabs the infected in the eye. Filthy blood splashes onto Daniel’s face, causing him to violently spit and wipe it off himself. Getting to his feet, Daniel recovers and starts to kill some other infected that get too close. John Dorie and June come to the rescue then and help Alicia and Daniel to get out. June cries out that they got to go! Alicia, just before they break for the doors, picks up the tools they were looking for and we watch all four sprint for main doors.

We cut away here to see Madison, Farah, and Strand still on the roof of the gas station. We hear some noise as the infected below are hitting against the beams that hold up the separated roof above the pumps. Strand will say they’re sitting ducks unless they can get all these infected away. Madison says nothing, only trying to think of a way out this situation. We’ll have a few seconds of everyone trying to think of something until Farah notices something: Three of the infected look and move oddly, moving against the side of the dead and towards their abandoned car. Looking closer, Farah realizes that those aren’t dead people, but living people covered in… infected guts? She points out indicates the impostors for Madison and Strand. Knowing their cover is blow, all three thieves try to break into the car. Madison and Strand take their guns and fire, but one of them uses a bow and arrow to fire arrows at the three. With that silenced weapon, the walkers continue to pay more attention to the three on the roof instead of the crooks trying to rob them. Strand tells them that unless they can hotwire that car they’re stuck. But Strand jinxes them as the car suddenly sparks into life. Knowing that only have seconds before their ride races away, Strand and Madison fire upon the vehicle. It doesn’t matter though as the car begins to move. But just as it does we hear more gunshots and the sound of air escaping as one of the tires is shot full of holes!

The four from the store are racing back, John Dorie’s face on the outside of the passenger window with one of his pistols out. Unable to flee now, the stolen vehicle stops and two robbers (with the third one being dragged along) try and make a break for it. The unburdened one fires an arrow hurriedly that hits Madison on the edge of her ribs. John Dorie and Alicia run to fight the infected hording around the gas station while Daniel and June run after the fleeing duo. Unfortunately for the thieves they run into some infected and the one being held and their attender are attacked, bitten, and are overwhelmed as they scream their last. The last one is trying to fend off the dead when Daniel starts to shoot with his rifle and June butchers any infected that get close to her. We’ll watch John and Alicia slay the dead, with Strand coming in by climb/ part-way falling from the lip of the roof to join them in the slaughter. Soon all the dead are slain, the last thief is taken captive by June and Daniel, and Farah helps Madison to the ground by getting her down the ladder in the store.

All seven now surround the remaining bandit and Daniel tells them to take off their hood. They do so, revealing a woman who looks to be in tears. She starts to beg for mercy, saying, “We just wanted to get out…” At the we, Madison looks towards the two dead people. We can see they’re an older man and a young boy. Then the captive bursts into tears, saying her son was so hungry, they were all hungry. They had to get out of the city, the dead were everywhere. Alicia chimes in, saying they could have… well asked for assistance from them. Strand comes in by adding that instead of that they thought to just kill them instead. The captive will plead more at this, sobbing, “You couldn’t imagine what we had to do to live… You don’t know what I’ve lost…”

At this comment something in Madison snaps and she swings her hammer and strikes the woman in the head. Alicia tries to stop her, but Madison doesn’t continue, merely standing over the woman and telling her that SHE doesn’t know what they have lost. Then she continues to beat the woman to death and some of the group like Alicia, John Dorie, and Farah are shocked at her behavior. When she is finally done the woman’s head is completely smashed and bloody. Finally Madison takes a breath and looks at the other dead family members. Walking to them, she hits their heads so they don’t reanimate, but in a more controlled manner. Everyone is staring at her, especially Alicia, who has a face that says, “I thought my mother had changed…” With that we cut to black.

This kind of action will indicate that Madison is not fully changed from last season. There is plenty of her old self inside of her. But instead of directing her “Momma-bear” energies towards her kids, it’s now towards her whole group. When I wrote this scene I made a comparison to the main show, season four episode one, “30 Days Without an Accident.” In it, Rick discovers a woman who is badly damaged from their survival in the apocalypse and tries to help her. She appears to accept it, but then tries to take Rick’s life when he’s at her meager camp. Even so Rick pities and tries to help her even after she tries to kill him. I wanted to create a similar confrontation, but Madison, unlike Rick, is unable to forgive and let go of this attempt on her and her people.

When we return for our final part of this episode, we see everyone working together to clean up the cars, replace the shot tire and damaged belt on the almost-stolen car, and pack the new supplies away. We see Madison being attended to by June, thanking her for her help. June will thank the compliment and then tell Madison that she should also be thankful for her luck because any more left and the arrow would have punctured an organ. They begin to talk then about random stuff and we’ll zoom out to see Alicia staring at her mom. She’s still a little rattled over what her mom had done and willing herself to confront her about it. Alicia starts walking towards Madison, but Strand intercepts her and asks to talk privately. Alicia agrees and the two go to a more private part of the gas station. Here Strand tries to explain what happened at the gas station and that these people really wanted to kill them. They planned out an attack and were really set on leaving Madison, himself, and Farah for dead. Alicia is still not fully convinced and tells her friend that even if that was the case, her mom should not have been so brutal. Strand will then tell her that he once told Nick, “The only way to survive a mad world is to embrace the madness.” He’ll expand upon that, saying that maybe they can find better people, but right now they must be ready in case of situations like this. Glowering, Alicia tells Strand that that doesn’t change what Madison did. Strand puts an elbow on Alicia’s shoulder and tells her to be there for Madison. Out of the corner of her eye, Madison is going to notice the Strand and Alicia and guess (correctly) what they mean. We can see that it does bother her, but she is also thinking to herself that she, even though she could have controlled herself, she made the right call.

We’ll switch to Farah and Daniel then, who are loading the supplies in the cars. Daniel will ask how she knows how to make cars work like she does (being an engineer isn’t the same as being a mechanic). Farah will tell him that she mostly doesn’t, but her skills can transition well if she knows the specs of things. She feels a little proud of this, though admits she wishes she was more capable of survival. After setting down some supplies, Daniel will look at her for a few seconds, then tell her that he could teach her. When she asks for a confirmation, he tells Farah that he thinks he could do that for a lot of the group and that he told Alicia he’d teach her something soon. I feel Daniel, now the last of his family, will look at Farah how he used to look at his own daughter, Ophelia: Both were rather soft and were raised away from violence, but the apocalypse began to change both (Ophelia more than Farah). It’ll give him a new connection to deepen throughout this season. Just after Daniel says this he’ll have a small cough and after recovering, will return to putting the last thing in the car.

Meanwhile, John Dorie is looking at the corpses of the newly dead people they fought, feeling sorry for their situation. Looking about, he finds a digging tool and starts to dig graves for the three. But before that he searches their pockets for any identification and finds wallets with the names Carmen Paige and Vince Pagie. June, after finishing with Madison, joins him and asks why. John then says, “We shouldn’t have killed them. The least we can do is not let them rot in the sun.” With that, June joins in and soon Madison follows suit. The others begin to help and soon Vince, Page, and their son are in the ground with markers with their names on them. Before they leave, Madison kneels down before Carmen’s and mutters that she’s sorry. She then stands up and they all get into their cars and begin to head North once again. While they drive Alicia looks out her window at the lone gas station (cutting to it for a few seconds) and we linger on it as soft music plays in the background. We then cut to black and the first episode of season five is over.
